The Times They Are A-Changin’

Today I am introducing several changes to Masto.host.

The web interface is now in open beta.

The web interface goes from closed to open beta. Everyone hosted on Masto.host can now request backup downloads and manage their service via the web interface.

Note that the web interface is still a work in progress and active development. Please let me know if you run into any problems or if you have suggestions on how to improve it.

If you have an active subscription, please go to the password recovery page and request a password reset with the email address you used to sign up for the service.

FastSpring is now a merchant of record for Masto.host, and other payment methods are now available.

FastSpring will invoice, bill, tax and process payments for the Masto.host platform. The change to FastSpring will also allow other payment methods. Namely, besides PayPal, credit card payments are now available. You can check if other payment methods are available for your location here.

If you want to know what a merchant of record is, you can find a detailed explanation on this page.

Multiple plan changes.

The following is a list of the changes to plans and add-ons:

Current subscribers can continue to pay in euros, and with the PayPal subscription, they currently have active, but upgrades/downgrades will use the new plans and payment methods.

You can view the details on the pricing page.

Subscribers on older plans will migrate to the new ones.

From the pricing version 1:

From the pricing version 2:

If the resources used are not over the limits after the migration, subscribers can continue to pay in euros and with the current PayPal subscription or change if they wish to do so. If the resources used are over the plan limits, subscribers will have until the end of 2022 to upgrade. I will contact users that have to upgrade during the next weeks.

I know these changes will affect some communities, and I am sorry. I will do what I can to help with this transition or to help migrate these communities to different hosting solutions.

If you have any questions, please let me know.
