As I was starting to look into GDPR, I went back to the basics, cookie consent. It really annoys me to see the cookie consent notices whenever I enter a website.
As such, I decided to forego some cool features (like Analytics and other tools) to make Masto.host cookie free.
There is one exception, when you click Buy Now you are taken to a form and I need a session cookie, to try to reduce spam. This session cookie is a random number that is renewed every time you refresh the page and completely destroyed once you submit the form. That’s it, the cookie/session is not stored in any database and your visit is not tied to any unique cookie.
So, the cookie thing is cleared and that is why you won’t see a cookie consent on Masto.host.
I will try and find some time to look into GDPR and will post about it soon (I hope).
